MEET MAURO
Mauro Garza didn’t grow up with a safety net—he became one. When his father passed away, Mauro was just 17. He stepped up to support his mom and put his brother and sister through college. No excuses. No handouts. Just grit and hard work.
That mindset has defined his life ever since—in business, in service, and on the marathon course.
Mauro is a long-distance runner who’s completed over 50 marathons and 5Ks for causes he believes in—from Child Advocates of San Antonio to the deaf community. In 2013, he was at the Boston Marathon when the bombs went off. He had a front-row seat to emergency response at its most human—and the moment only deepened his commitment to serve others.
Running taught Mauro what politics often forgets: you win by showing up every day, putting in the work, and finishing what he started.
That’s exactly how he’s lived his life.
Mauro built multiple successful businesses from the ground up. He's a trained researcher and a trusted leader who’s spent his career solving real problems—on the ground, not behind a podium. He’s led city programs to protect kids from violence and abuse. He’s worked closely with health professionals to fight addiction and disease. He’s authored acclaimed research, taught leadership at the College level, and earned recognition from the Texas Department of Health for his work on disease prevention.
Now, he’s running for County Judge to deliver the kind of leadership Cameron County deserves.
He’s not a talker. He’s a builder. A doer. A finisher. A fixer. Mauro knows South Texas can’t afford performative politics. It needs real infrastructure. Smarter water solutions. Pro-growth leadership that respects tax dollars and delivers results.

Mauro will lead a long-term plan to prevent future shortages—by investing in drainage, repairing broken pipelines, expanding desalination, and protecting farmers and ranchers from being squeezed out by heavy-use industries.
Grow the Economy—From the Ports Up.
Cameron County is sitting on a massive opportunity. Mauro champions the creation of a second Texas economic triangle connecting Brownsville, Corpus Christi, and either Laredo or Del Rio— linking our ports, workforce, and trade routes to attract jobs and investment in long-term growth for the Lower Rio Grande Valley, the Gulf Coast, and South Texas.
